Dear members of the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society. I am delighted to serve as your incoming President. I look forward to working with the membership to grow our programming and to expand our teachings, while also serving our community.
I have a great passion in understanding music, supporting it, and advancing its culture, as expressed through the classical guitar. As you know, we have world-class guitar concerts, a guitar ensemble, salons, soirees, competitions, wine tastings, guitar workshops and so much more. Our annual guitar festival in April represents our highwater mark for our society. I am also deeply committed to placing more classical guitars into the hands of under-resourced youth and supporting them with guitar instruction though the Bill Viola fund. The power of music can transform lives and we must pledge to making PCGS diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive.
I want to thank all our donors and supporters of PCGS. Your support is essential for making PCGS what it is today. I also want to express sincere appreciate to Kevin Cope for his leadership as outgoing President of PCGS. Kevin has done a remarkable job in not only growing our society but also making sure that we were viable and relevant during the pandemic, when music became an even more important part of our well-being.
I look forward to working with all of you to ensure that the best for the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society is yet to come.
Sincerely,
Eric Zillmer, President PCGS
